Insect Bites And Stings
Stings from ants, wasps, hornets and bees result only in local pain and swelling, unless the sting is on the mouth or tongue when local
oedema may cause respiratory distress.
Occasionally deaths may result from very extensive stings or more commonly due to severe anaphylaxis in individuals previously sensitized particularly to bee stings.
Symptoms noticed are:
1. Local pain and oedema
2. Severe cases may become shocked, local tissue necrosis, acute haemolysis and acute nephritis may occur.

Chief Remedies:
Apis Mellifica: for bee stings; burning, stinging pain at the site of bite. There is swelling which is puffy rather then hard.
Arnica Montana: hard, shining swelling from insect stings; swelling on tongue after insect bites/stings.
Ledum Palstre: urticarial rashes developing after stings of yellow jackets or wasps; numbness at the site of sting relieved by cold; better after application of cold.
