Eczema, Dermatitis - remedies in homeopathy

Eczema/ Dermatitis

It consists of a diffuse, superficial inflammation of the skin, which causes numerous little vesicles upon an inflamed, irregular surface.

Sometimes these vesicles are intermingled with pustules, at other times the superficial layer is thrown off, leaving a raw,moist surface, behind which becomes covered with a thin scruf or a thick crust.

Causes

1. Direct irritation of the skin by too high temperature, hot baths, rubbing by irritating substances.

2. Stagnation of venous blood within the capillaries, which takes place most frequently on the lower extremities.

3. In some cases, cause may not be traced out.

It occurs on scalp, face, genitals, the inner side of thigh, legs, the bends of extremities, hands and feet.

Homeopathic Treatment:

Chief Remedies:

Arsenicum Album: eczema with copious scaling; fishy scales; worse from cold and scratching; better from heat; dry and scaly eruptions; fetid discharge.

Croton Tiglium: eczema all over the body, with intense itching; small vesicles, more prominent on face eyelids and the scrotum and genitals; cannot bear to scratch very hard as it hurts.

Dulcamara: change of wheather to cold, cause’s aggravation of symptoms; thick brown yellowish crusts on cheeks; forehead or chin.

Graphites: eczema oozing a sticky, watery, transparent and glutinous fluid; aggravation from warmth, and at night; better wrapping up.

Hepar Sulphuris Calcarium:  eczematous eruptions which have a purulent discharge; spreading by means of new pimples appearing just beyond the old/originally affected parts; cannot bear to be uncovered and wants to be wrapped up warmly.

Petroleum: eczema which is aggravated in winters; oozing after scratching, itching, burning, cracks and fissures in skin.

Pulsatilla: yellowish discharge; better in open air; worse after eating rich, fatty food.

Rhus Toxicodendron: scratching necessitates greater urging to scratch; a red line marks the spread of disease; cutaneous surface about the eruption is red and angry looking; better from warmth in general; worse in damp or wet weather and in winter.

Sulphur: feels good to scratch; soreness and burning after scratching; most comfortable when dirty, hates to be
Washed; better in fresh air.
