Heartburn

Heartburn is felt as a deeply placed 'burning' pain behind the sternum, often radiating to the throat.
Patients may indicate their discomfort with upward movement of the fingers over the chest. It occurs after meals and characteristically is brought on by bending and by lifting or straining due to an increase in the intra-abdominal pressure. It may also occur on lying down in bed at night preventing sleep and is then relieved by sitting up.

This burning sensation is usually due to inflammation of the oesophagus as in reflux oesophagitis. Sometimes dysmotiliy of the oesophagus produces a similar sensation.
Regurgitation of gastric content to the mouth may occur due to bending, after a large volume meal, at night and may cause pain.

Robinia Pseudoacacia: Robinia Pseudoacacia has marked action on gastric symptoms like dyspepsia, indigestion, heartburn, and mainly hyperacidity. The acidity is always accompanied by frontal headache. Eructations are intensely acrid. Nausea and sour eructations with profuse, acrid and greenish vomiting. There is great distension of stomach and bowels. Robinia Pseudoacacia also helps in flatulent colic, with dull aching in the abdomen. Stools are sour. Colic and flatulence with nightly burning pains in stomach and constipation with urgent desire. Robinia Pseudoacacia is also useful in acidity of children. Stools and perspiration smells sour in children.

Iris V: Hyperacidity with sour and bitter belching.

Antimonium Crudum: Constant belching, tongue is thickly white coated. Desire for acids, pickles etc. 

Nux Vomica: Gastric disturbances due to sedentary habits.
