Prostrate Problems

The main prostrate problems are enlargement, inflammation
1. Benign enlargement of the prostrate - It usually occurs in men over 50 yrs of age, but it may also be seen in younger age groups. In early stages of prostratic enlargement, there is increased libldo. Later, impotence is a rule.
Symptoms:
- urgency and frequency of urination
- also difficulty in micturition
- the stream is variable, often weak, tending to stop and start, and dribbles towards the end of the micturition.
- pain occurs due to retention of urine
- also drop of blood at the beginning or end of urination is not unusual.

2. Inflammation of the prostrate - Prostatitis
Acute inflammation of prostrate is caused by bacteria. Chronic inflammation is the sequel of inadequately treated acute prostatitis.
Symptoms:
- it may cause inflammation of urethra or epididymis.
- pain in the perineum or rectum
- recurring attacks of mild fever, malaise
- sexual dysfunction

Conium Maculatum: Conium Maculatum is a chief remedy for enlarged prostate. There is great difficulty in voiding urine. The flow of urine stops on straining from enlarged prostate. Pain when urinating. It is also useful for frequent urination and bloody urine caused by prostate gland enlargement. Testes hard and enlarged, ill effects of suppressed sexual desires.

Sabal Serrulata: Sabal Serrulata has marked action on treatment of enlarged prostate or prostate hypertrophy and prostatitis. There is enlargement of prostate gland with discharge of prostatic fluid. It is useful in cystitis with enlargement of the prostrate. Wasting of testes and loss of sexual power. Painful erection or emission of semen during coition; sexual neurotics. Senile prostate.

Ferrum Picricum: Ferrum Picricum is mainly used for the senile hypertrophy of the prostate gland. There is frequent urination at night with full feeling and pressure in rectum. Smarting at neck of bladder and penis with retension of urine.

Staphysagria: Urge to pass urine but urine dribbles in small quantity.
